Baseball Strength and Velocity Training in Huntsville, AL

Baseball players need more than throwing repetitions to continue developing.

They need strength, movement quality, throwing intent, arm care and a training plan that connects each part of their development.

That is the purpose behind the Dwyer Baseball Edge + Utley Performance Baseball Strength + Velocity Development Program in Huntsville, Alabama.

The program combines baseball-specific throwing development with strength and athletic performance training. Players ages 10 and older train in a focused small-group environment where they receive coaching, individual feedback and a clear purpose behind the work they are doing.

PLAYERS TRAIN IN CLUTCH PERFORMANCE IN JULY 2026.

What Is the Strength + Velocity Development Program?

The Strength + Velocity Development Program is a small-group baseball training program led by Dylan Dwyer of Dwyer Baseball Edge and Brian Utley of Utley Performance.

Each session combines two important areas of player development:

  • Baseball throwing and velocity development

  • Strength, power and athletic movement

Instead of treating throwing development and strength training as completely separate, the program helps players understand how movement, strength and intent work together.

Players are not simply showing up to throw baseballs or complete a general workout. Every part of the training has a purpose.

What Players Work On

The program focuses on the physical qualities, throwing development and training habits that help baseball players continue improving.

Throwing Velocity and Intent

Throwing harder is not about finding one drill or making one quick mechanical adjustment.

Velocity develops through a combination of:

  • Strength

  • Movement quality

  • Throwing intent

  • Efficient mechanics

  • Consistent training

  • Recovery

  • Time

Players learn to throw with purpose rather than simply getting their throws in. The goal is to help them move efficiently, throw with intent and understand what productive throwing work should feel like.

Baseball Strength and Power

Baseball requires players to produce force quickly and transfer that force through the body.

Strength coach Brian Utley leads training designed to help players develop:

  • Lower-body strength

  • Rotational power

  • Core control

  • Stability

  • Coordination

  • Overall athleticism

The work is selected to support baseball performance rather than simply making players tired.

Players build strength, power and movement that can translate to baseball performance.

Movement and Athletic Performance

Strength only helps when a player can use it effectively.

Players work on moving with better control, creating force from the ground and becoming more athletic in the movements required by baseball.

Improved movement can support throwing, hitting, running and overall performance on the field.

Arm Care and Recovery

Throwing development also requires players to understand how to take care of their arms.

The program introduces practical arm-care and recovery habits that players can continue using during practices, individual throwing sessions and throughout the season.

Arm care is not a shortcut or a guarantee against injury. It is one part of a complete and responsible training plan.

Better Training Habits

One of the most important goals of the program is teaching players how to train with intent.

Players learn that improvement requires more than showing up. It takes focus, consistent effort and an understanding of the purpose behind each drill, throw and exercise.

Those habits can carry into practices, bullpens, workouts and games.

Why Strength Matters for Throwing Velocity

Players and parents often focus on mechanics when trying to improve throwing velocity.

Mechanics matter, but a player also needs enough strength, stability and athleticism to produce and control force.

The lower body begins the movement. The core helps transfer energy. The upper body delivers the baseball. When those areas work together, the player has a stronger foundation for an efficient and repeatable delivery.

That is why the program combines strength and throwing development instead of focusing on only one area.

The goal is not to chase radar-gun numbers without a plan. It is to help players build the physical foundation and training habits that support continued development.

Why We Use Small-Group Baseball Training

Small-group training gives players the energy of working alongside other athletes while still allowing coaches to provide individual feedback.

Every player enters the program with a different training history, movement pattern and level of experience. A drill that helps one player may not be the priority for another.

The small-group format allows Dylan and Brian to coach the group while still identifying what each player needs to improve.

Players are challenged, supported and expected to work.

Who Is the Program For?

The Baseball Strength + Velocity Development Program is open to baseball players ages 9 and older.

It may be a strong fit for players who want to:

  • Build baseball-specific strength

  • Improve throwing velocity and intent

  • Move more athletically

  • Develop better arm-care habits

  • Receive individual coaching

  • Train with a structured plan

  • Prepare for school or travel baseball

Players do not need to arrive at a certain velocity level. They should arrive ready to listen, compete and put in focused work.
